The great temple facade at Abu Simbel:
Abu Simbel
temples built by the king Ramses II at Nubia the southern
border of Egypt during the 19th dynasty New Kingdom about
1290 BC. 1960-1971 the High Dam built in Egypt and the Nile inundation came to form Nasser lake behind the High Dam and covered the two temples. Egypt appealed for international help, the plane came to cut the two temples out of the solid rock and rebuilt them directly sixty meters high above the original site under supervisor of UNESCO, started in 1960 finished in 1968.
